Back to Back to Back Birthdays!
We started off last week with three straight days of birthday celebrations! The anticipation for these three birthdays had definitely been building, and the excitement was practically bursting from the seams of the school. It was heartwarming to see such enthusiasm in honoring these ladies' lives. The most beautiful part of it all, however, was how wonderfully these three ladies shared the spotlight selflessly, complimenting one another as we recognized each of them.
We continued the ritual of the birthday girl sharing pictures of her life. We celebrated the growth each one of them has made in life so far, and recognized character-building memories they made. This practice presents the opportunity to get to know each other a little more, and a chance to discuss how wonderfully unique every person is!
A Walk Around the 12 Months!
A trip around for every year!
Ms. Lisa had asked to skip on the tradition of walking around the months. So instead, I introduced a tradition I first heard about in New Orleans last year. The point is to make it clear it is one's birthday. When people see the money pinned on a person, it is customary to wish them a "Happy Birthday!". I wanted Ms. Lisa to feel extra love on this year's milestone, so I figured why not give this concept a shot. The children surely enjoyed getting involved, almost as much as they love Ms. Lisa!
As a special treat, we shared vegetable sushi and california rolls. Ms. Lisa really likes sushi, so she was happy to introduce this new food to the class. Don't be surprised if your child asks for it sometime, for even those who chose not to try not still have fun saying "sushi", at least!
Happy 4th Birthday!
Happy Birthday to this beautiful soul! She has a special ability to make others smile and feel loved. She is so supportive of her classmates needs and is the first to congratulate others on their successes. We simply could not imagine our class without her creativity and positivity!
Happy 3rd Birthday!
Our youngest in the class has now turned 3! Isn't she as cute as can be?! This clever character has certainly come a long way since the beginning of the school year, when the cries for mom were relentless. Now her focus is on working and receiving Montessori lessons from her teachers. It has been fun seeing her grow, and I am excited to see what other materials spark her interest the remainder of the year!
Three Cheers for the Three Birthdays!
